Yesterday, contents of benzene in sample of finished water and gravity channel water sample, of Lanzhou Veolia Water Group Company, exceed standard by large amount. Lanzhou adopted low pressure water supply throughout the city, and the citizens made an urgent request for water.

Detection of Lanzhou Veolia Water Group Company’s water shows that, at 17:00, April 10, content of benzene in finished water is as high as 118 mcg per liter; at 22:00, content of benzene in water of gravity channel(intermediate section between branch factory 1 and branch factory 2) is 170 mcg per liter; at 00:2. April 11, detected value is 200 mcg per liter; and all of them exceed the limited value of 10 mcg per liter stipulated by the state.

As polluted gravity channel is cut off after the occurrence of accident, branch factory 2 of Lanzhou Veolia Water Group Company, which mainly supplies daily used water to the citizens, whose production capacity reduces by one half, and the whole city adopts low-pressure water supply, among which, some high and remote areas are to be shot of water supply.

Some Lanzhou citizens strive to buy bottled drinking water once this news being released, and purified water in many supermarket are sold out.Beside urgent request for drinking water, that for cooking also becomes a concern of some Lanzhou citizens.

People from all parties have showed out friendly, caring and helping hands toward this “water crisis”, and the reporter learned from Lanzhou Municipal Government that, while seeing the report about tap water being polluted in Lanzhou, supply of drinking water being stopped, and the citizens having difficulty in getting drinking water, Xu Jiayin, chairman of the board of directors of Evergrande Group, immediately contacted Yuan Zhanting, mayor of Lanzhou, and suggested to donate 12 millions bottles, that is 500,000 boxes, of Evergrande Spring mineral water to Lanzhou citizens in no time. Mayor Yuan, expressed thanks for this act of kindness in representative of Lanzhou people. Thereafter, Xu Jiayin immediately instructed Evergrande Mineral Water Group to mobilize all stores in Northern China by the same night, and arrange 1000 container trucks to transport them to Lanzhou in the fastest speed and within the shortest period of time, ensuring that they will be in place by April 12; and staff shall collaborate with the government in delivering Evergrande Spring.
